Reducing food losses and waste is essential in a world where the number of people affected by hunger has been slowly on the rise since 2014, and tons and tons of edible food are lost and/or wasted every day. Globally, around 13.2% of food produced is lost between harvest and retail, while an estimated 19% of total global food production is wasted in households, in the food service and in retail all together (United Nations).

Access the resources from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) on this interactive board and choose one of the animations, videos, infographics, stories or audio files to discover one fact about food loss and waste that you didn’t know.
You can find out more about food loss and food waste in the audio and listening tasks in unit 14 of Develop Your English: with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: 'We throw away a third of the food we grow.'
