The World Day of Social Justice aims to raise awareness of the need to build fairer, more equitable societies.

‘The Day recognizes that social development and social justice are indispensable for achieving and maintaining peace and security within and among nations, and that social development and social justice cannot be obtained in the absence of peace and security or in the absence of respect for all human rights and fundamental freedoms.’ https://sdg.iisd.org/events/world-day-of-social-justice-2025/

The 2025 theme ‘Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice’ underscores the importance of inclusive policies, lifelong learning, and social protections to combat systemic inequality.

Watch the video (2 minutes) where the Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) talks about the establishing The Global Coalition for Social Justice. He talks about the opportunity 'to bend the arc of history in favour of social justice' . What do you think he means?

Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director General of the ILO
